How can one build successful enterprises while honoring the principles of sustainability?

This crucial question was at the heart of the second "Alta Ispirazione" event, titled "(Bio)diversity, Equilibrium," organized by Animaimpresa – Business di Valore. Held on Friday, June 27, 2025, at 3:00 PM, at the Fondazione Friuli in Udine, the conference delved into the evolving concepts of sustainability and regeneration, with a central focus on biodiversity as a cornerstone for development and well-being.

The theme of biodiversity extends beyond biological variety—encompassing species, habitats, and ecosystems—to embrace all levels that characterize life and complex natural and social systems. This broader interpretation includes ecological, cultural, economic, and even technological aspects, all of which collectively influence a system's adaptability and sustainability. The event, part of the "Sostenibilità a Sistema" project funded by the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region, aimed to explore the multifaceted interpretations of (bio)diversity through various experiences and perspectives.

The event featured three prominent speakers:

  • Rita White : an Environmental Psychologist, President of the Italian Academy of Biophilia (AIB), and an expert in Biophilic Design;

  • Piero Martin : Full Professor of Experimental Physics at the University of Padua, currently a visiting professor at Columbia University and on detachment at the Interdisciplinary Center "B. Segre" of the Lincei;

  • Nicola Iacopelli: CEO of BEE IT Società Benefit;

And highlighted two inspiring entrepreneurs:

  • Ornella Venica : Commercial Director for Italy at Venica & Venica, a historic winery in Collio;

  • Elena Sica : Founder of La Sisile, an organic farm established in 2016 in Villa Santina, Carnia;

The conference concluded with a unique perspective on sustainability through art:

  • Paola Gasparotto : An artist specializing in painting, engraving, and naturalistic illustration;

The "Alta Ispirazione" event was made possible with the support of BCC Banca di Udine - Gruppo BCC Iccrea and MEP , and in collaboration with Fondazione Friuli , Peoplerise , and Venedia. The diverse perspectives shared underlined the profound connection between human activity, environmental health, and the future of business, reinforcing the idea that successful enterprises must indeed honor the principles of sustainability.
